Joining Fahey Schultz Burzych Rhodes, PLC in 2010, Lansing lawyer Stacy Hissong brings our Okemos law firm over a decade of experience in representing Drain Commissioners and other governmental clients on issues relating to storm water and inland lakes and streams. As an Okemos drain attorney, Stacy has a wide range of experience in projects involving county and intercounty drains, lake levels, lake improvement boards, sewer authorities, and county public works offices.
Stacy is frequent presenter to Drain Commissioners and other municipal groups, on the Drain Code and related areas, such as: property acquisition, the Freedom of Information Acts and Open Meetings Acts, Michigan’s Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act. Stacy has also written several articles for publication on drain-related topics.
After graduation from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Stacy received her juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1996 where she served as a member of the Law Review, and was admitted to the Michigan Bar the same year. As a Lansing attorney, Stacy is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Ingham County Bar Association, the Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners, and the International Right-of-Way Association.
In addition to the practice of drain and water law, Stacy is also a Certified General Appraiser in the State of Michigan, and is licensed to appraise real property of any type or value in the State of Michigan. Stacy’s appraisal expertise has proven extremely beneficial for the Okemos law firm’s eminent domain and tax tribunal cases.
